  • new Ford badge!

So, i was wanting to get a blue oval Ford badge for the dash, to make it look like it came that way, but i didn't want to go to the Ford dealer for an exterior badge (don't know the price of one, but i'm sure it's more than i want to pay for a simple badge), and did not want a used one from the pick-a-part.

So, walking around Pep Boys gave me the answer: a key chain!!

I got this very nice metal Ford key ring, cut the little round loop off the end, filed it smooth, and stuck it on with some 3-M exterior double-sided tape.
Total cost is about $4.00, and looks like Ford put it on when they built it!
If it has boobs or wheels, sooner or later you're going to have trouble with it.

      Sorry to burst your bubble
It should say KIA when it left the factory in Korea

Check your drivers door jamb for manufacturer

All Ford did was to re-badge it

      I am the original

actually, mech, it DID say Ford when it left the factory! The rebadging took place on the assembly line. They installed Ford specific parts instead of the Kia specific parts.

mazda part numbers go in a xxxx-xx-xxx sequence ,some times with a letter at the end or 2 extra digits if it is colour coded

ok, here is how i understand it and please correct me if i am wrong. Ford wanted a small car and went to Kia to build it out of South Korea. Kia already had the Pride and so basically a Festiva is a Kia Pride with a few Ford mods. It left the South Korean factory with Ford emblems etc as they made them for Ford. If you open the hood on the passengers side firewall there it is: Made is South Korea sticker beside the engraved VIN.

^^^ Ford went to Mazda (who they own) for a subcompact car. Mazda gave them the 121, but the production capacity in Japan (Hiroshima) was not sufficient to supply Ford and themselves. Mazda sent them to Kia, who was building the 121 in Korea as the Kia Pride. Mazda provided the vehicle engineering, Kia provided the production, Ford handled the importation.
