mazda shift boot?

I have heard that a Mazda 323 shift boot would fit a Festy full console. Has anyone heard of this? Or are there other boots from different cars that may fit a console?
Going to the pick-a-part Saturday and will check, but just seeing if anyone knows.

87 88 89 shift boots, retainer rings and knobs will work. Retainer rings mount different but can be made to work. MX6 626 shift knobs also work.

Well, went to the pick-a-part today, got the 323 boot and retainer. You are right, the boot fits the console, and the retainer is different but fits the boot perfectly, however does not line up with factory mount holes in the console.
It seems to me that some simple aluminum brackets could be built to bolt in the retainer. I just don't want to glue it in. I'll let everyone know what i come up with.

I've already done aluminum brackets. 3/4" aluminum angle, IIRC. cut to length, about 3 inches, then drill two holes to align with the posts in the console.

yes! basically what i was thinking.
So Jim, the brackets you built attach to the console mount posts, but sort of clamp the retainer/boot against the console base? Thats what i envision.

There is also one out of a 323 that you don't neet a retainer to hold it in.

Found a grey one with the 5-speed knob to go with it! Very nice shape too.
