  • The search for power rear 1/4s

So... I went to the junkyard yesterday searching for something to rig up power rear 1/4s with. I found a 2dr 626 with power poppers but they were huge and i dont think it would be possible to use them. Ive read here that someone said early 90s ford windstars had them? I couldn't find any early 90s windstars with power rear 1/4s... the later 90s body style had them but they were very complicated. The best I could find were the early 90s caravan poppers. They are fairly compact and simple. they bolt to the glass same as our rear leavers do. The only thing is it will basically require mounting the motors to the c pillar in view.

Cool!! post some progress pics cause i'm interested in doing this

    1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
    1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

yeah, I've poked around in a lot of vans and hatchbacks, and I agree, the best looking candidates are the caravans. I'm too poor to work on anything right now, but please do keep us posted as I'd like to do this mod too one day.
      No festiva for me ATM...

Thats a mod i would LOVE!
Don't mind rolling up or down the fronts, since even the passenger crank is so close, but to have those rear 1/4's open by remote (electric) would be great.
Let us know how it goes.
If it has boobs or wheels, sooner or later you're going to have trouble with it.

Check the 2004 Trailblazers I've looked at my mother-in-laws and wondered if she would notice them gone - not sure on the size comparison to caravans though I do know you would have to make a costom surrond for your c-pillar as well though

              1/4s

if you can find one, check the early 2000's Pontiac Montanas. My ex's parents had one and if I remember correctly, it was a small servo that opened the windows and had the power booster and controller mounted elsewhere.
