  • A couple of small upgrades

Today I installed a 12V socket in the cargo area for powering a cooler. The key has to be on in order for it to work so I can't run my battery down if I forget to unplug it. Then I installed the console I bought from 25hp. Not bad for a slow Saturday at the house.

Wow your interior plastic is all gouged up too? Mine looks like the previous owners turned a grizzly bear loose back there!

Gotta like the 12v outlet idea!:thumbleft: What guage wire did you run to it? Is it on its own fuse or what?
You should do a write up on it!

i put four of those in my 1988. two in the back, hot all the time and each fused, two up front, one behind and to the side of the cigarette lighter, and one on the passenger side of the console. they are tied into the fuse panel to a fuse, can't remember which one, but have power only when the key is on. use the one on drivers side front for my radar detector, one on passenger side front for my gps. the ones in back are used for cell phones and a small power inverter. the back ones are hooked directly to the pos. battery terminal. all are fused.
i go on long trips once or twice a year and the outlets come in handy.

Very nice idea.... ! I love slow Saturdays at the house. We had a easy rain most of today, perfect excuse for working on a festiva.

A write up heh? Don't tell anyone but I ran it today with 22 guage and no fuse. (temporary only, that's all I had available). I wanted to get the socket positioned and mounted so that all I'd have to do is re pull a power wire. I'm figuring on running 16 guage. I'll probably use a 15A fuse since that's what the factory cigar fuse is.

So, Monday I'll take more pictures of the install (when I do it right) and let you know more about what I did.

I was baby sitting my nieces and so I couldn't really go anywhere. And that gave me a good excuse to stay around the house and give Jeffstiva a little attention.

Yes sir! You can't beat a slow Saturday.

                    That's a great idea

You can never have too many 12 volt sockets these days! Well, technically you could, but you know what I mean. LOL

Nice to have one in the cargo area though.
