  • Harbor Freight Trailer Sale

HF has their little 3.5 X 4 foot mini utility trailers on sale now. Here is the little one, which my local HF will be selling for $145 until August 11th:

It has the bitty 8" wheels on it, but I think I just want to "experience" how a trailer works for me first. I can always trade up later. Then again, I'd prefer 12" wheels. However I also like the "mini" price!

I'll probably floor it with heavy plywood and make the wood slat sides for it, painting them red to match. I'll use it to haul stuff, mainly on short trips to the JY and back for bulky car parts. I may buy a two wheeled dolly HF sells for JY excursions so I won't have to wait for a wheelbarrow. That would be a deluxe way to cruise the 'yards without wearing myself out.

HF has more trailers, including larger, folding models and a steel box wall version, averaging maybe around $250 and up. Also on sale (usually $11.99) is the spare tire mount, for $9.99. If I add a locking system and tie downs I'll be all set. This trailer stands on end to take up very little space in my junk filled garage.

Most are painted red, which matches Luxstiva really well.

Post your own "trailer thoughts" here!

Lemme try to do a pic of that little one:

Foul! This is why I love Harbor Chinese Freight. When I click on the link now, it shows the trailer at $199.00. I've looked through all their clearance items and didn't see it for $145.00 (that was a deal)!

I might call and check my local HCF and see if it's on sale.

Just a thought about the cheap trailers and stuff at HF -- you get what you pay for. My dad bought that same trailer a few years back, and it is nice how you can fold it and put it in the back of the garage. But, they are VERY flimsy. I was backing up his driveway (without any load on it at all) and just *barely* caught the curb with one wheel and it got tweaked really bad. Bent the frame. His had plywood bolted down as well, so you would think it would be more structurally solid. That said, I love HF for cheap tools and stuff, if they break quickly, I throw it away and buy another one its such a good deal and dont feel bad about it at all. But I would have serious second thoughts about hauling something valuable (like my motorcycle) on a HF trailer.

                  Advice noted, Tin.

I didn't get one and the sale ended. I may still get one, but I'm thinking the best one would be the smallest with the 12" wheels. It's only a 3.5 X 4 foot model that would be quite lightweight.

                    Safety Guy,
I Too was looking at the HF small trailers.
I had a service person on line and as far as he was able to determine the difference between the 876 lbs capacity and 1076 lbs version is the wheel size!
Which means you could get the cheaper 8" wheel one and convert to the 12" wheels later.
I couldn't get the wheel pattern (4x117, 4x100, 4x108, etc.), but shouldn't be too hard to find a set of steelies to fit.
I had hopes that the festiva's OEM steelies would fit, but do not know.

                    Tinwisker,
yes, HF is generally Chinese crap, but in this case you can use the trailer design as a template.
Swapping out the thin gage metal for something more substantial and possibly more functional and corrosion resistant.

You can buy 12"wheels with tires at Walmart for that trailer. Or even better that trailer has a 4on100 bolt pattern you could get some nice wheels.

                        Biglay5150,

Thanks for the info, looks like we can use aspire OEM wheels then.
For those with the aspire swap they will have a trailer with matching wheels.
Do you own one of these, if so, do you recommend them?
