  • H.I.D's in the festiva!!

WOOT!!! i got a set off e-bay. it was like $65. And oh man what a difference. bright white light. direct plug and play for ease of installation. and now i can see at night instead of guessing where the double yellows are. Anyone wanting to do this. Dont hesitate, call me or pm me for any help with installation. Ill try to get some pics up soon. waiting on my better half to get back from cali, she has the power cord for the camera dock(also fits the camera).

I said it before, and I'll say it again: If I spot a car with HID bulbs in halogen housings, the owner should expect some broken headlights at some point.

im a state inspector so i know the laws. and they only blind oncoming traffic if they are improperly aimed. trust me, im not blinding anyone.

^^^Ah, but if read the appropriate FMVSS spec (don't have it handy at the moment) HID lamps are only DOT approved in the appropriate housings, with the correct reflectors and lenses. Not saying they can't work well in a halogen lamp assembly, they just don't meet DOT spec, regardless of what state you're in. I helped write some of the vehicle safety inspection laws in MD...

I'd let a festiva with hid's slide. The car is low to the ground. I brake check lifted trucks and hummers with purple hid's. The more blue a light is, the more your eye cannot focus to the surroundings so it's double the problem. If you bought the 5000k or 4300k its not near the problem of the ricers we have out in california.

I think I will just stick with stock headlights with some better bulbs and a relay kit.

Are the stock headlight lenses glass by any chance? They kinda feel like glass and I have yet to see one that is faded yellow like typical plastic lenses do. Mine are just a little pitted from age.

Yep. They're glass alright. I could tell by all the little pieces I picked off the ground after the snow plow hit it.
                  Cheers!
