special thanks to htchbck for the pointers to make this one. I had to remove the board and cut out part of the frame to make it fit but its in and looks great.
LoL, that was funny as hell. Garentee he is smarter then that.
unfortunately, that sounds and looks like that is what happened. and just so you know, it looks great but it wont be accurate if thats what you did. you would have to get it recalibrated.
if hes just doing it as a joke and to be funny...thats awesome!
no, he is smarter than that, and I was too when I did it way back when. Its a factory 140 speedo from a mazda protege with a face printed up to match the factory numbering for the protege speedometer, and then the whole assembly just swapped in place of the factory 85 speedo from the festiva. And yes it is accurate, works exactly like it is supposed to when it was in the protege.

Precicely - I have a template make on the computer with all the measure ments correct, then I place the scan in behind the template and correct the size of the image to match the template, I can then draw with the image in the background - so the marks are precicely in the exact location as originally - I saw htchbcks cluster in another thread and asked him about it - he had only done it on a orange numbered cluster so I had to do some modification of the plastic to make the protege speedo fit correctly, but like previously said - the speedo will work just the same as it did in the protege its just in a festiva cluster

MX-3 to bud 1024 rev.....same as a festivas cluster. It's 150 mph!!
Don't know if it would work in a tach cluster or not, but theoretically it should since I believe the speedo is the same on the tach and non/tach clusters and the protege speedo is a direct drop-in for fitment and bolts right up, at least on the orange face clutsers (and apparently with minor work to the case on the white ones as festiva tunner noted above). I don't have a factory tach cluster or I'd try it myself. Anyone have a tach cluster laying around wanna try mounting a protege speedometer? I have a spare speedometer I could send you for the cost or shipping if your interested in enlightening us.
since tach clusters were never available in Canada i don't have one to experiment with, i wish i did though
They never were? I wish I would've known earlier; I've been searching like crazy for one since my BP swap...Oh well,I guess I'll go with an aftermarket one.
The left lane? Are you crazy!!! I never drive in the left lane...It's full of freaks driving the wrong way and charging right at you!!!

it's worth the extra time looking for an overseas 180 kph tach cluster like i have, i could be wrong but i think FMS sells 170kph tach clusters

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?
