Every time your going to paint plastic parts its recommended to wash them with soap and water first.
    Apply Wax & Grease remover
Then scuff with a red scotch brite
( Orilleys Auto Parts usually carries these products)
    Wax & Grease remove
Then Apply Bulldog Adhesion Promoter( Its for plastic parts)
After that you can apply a primer if needed or sealer then paint and clear.

Bulldog Adhesion Promoter is the key to painting plastics, I use this on all plastics and never had a problem.
    Great info!

aj, or anyone else, what kind of paint would you suggest using? would spray paint work better than say the rustoleum paints as far as durability, and quality of the finished product.

Also, for some awesome info, research Tulsacarman's threads. He's a body and paint guy and he talks about how he painted his bumpers.

This is the factory that paints car bumpers. Millions of them. Unfortunately, they do not show any pictures. Proprietary. Anyway, four or five bucks per cart move down the robotic paint line:

            This is the paint technology:

In the States it's under Rohm & Haas

Todd, if your looking for quality I suggest to stay with automotive refinishing products(ppg-dupont-ect.) I wouldnt recommend using paint spray cans. If money is the issue , inwhich pretty much any thing we do to our festys cost more than the car itself, Try to find out if there are any local high schools or colleges with technical programs that have a body shop, or someone that does paint work on the side, its always way cheaper than taking it to a body shop.
