  • battery relocation?

well seeing how my motor has low compression on cyl.1 and bottem end noise when I start it and it's cold. I've found a 1.6 tonight and the only thing is the intake is where the battery is.

I've noticed a few guys on here have battery's in the back. I'm wondering what you guys are doing under the hood to get the power wire from the trunk to engine bay. and what you guys hook it up to under the hood to get power off of?

    pics????

I like matts install like a new car.

You need to use bigger cables if you are to make them longer. I passed them under the carpeting on the driver's door sill, and through the engine harness' grommet and inside the driver's side front fender, and through an existing hole in the engine compartment near the stock battery location and hooked them up with the original cables. But for the ground, you can make your own and hook it up to the nearest bolt in the trunk. And also, in Canada, a vehicle with a battery relocated in the trunk is legal as long as it's in a sealed box, and properly fixed so it doesn't move.

so you just used like a butt connector for the positive? hmmm deff. was thinking I would have to mount like a icolator on the fire wall or somthing. guess I'm thinking inside the box on this one.

i will have to post some pics of the install in the red rocket...

Took a 4 gauge wire and ran it from the battery location (in the middle of the back seat area) and then under the door sill on the passenger side, through a hole in the firewall i had put in for a power wire for the stereo.. the cable then goes into a distribution block that i bought from best buy (click on words to see the block i used) i then have the power wire from the battery going into one side and then the two wires that are hooked to the power of the battery to the other side. To make it all look nice, i am in the process of putting a clear tubing around in and placing LEDs inside the tube so that it will light up the inside of the engine bay but at the same time protect the wire

I didn't mount the airbox. I put an adaper on the end and used a short conical filter.

I found my bill for my battery cable that I used, and apparently I used 4 gauge as well, but to mimick the Festiva positive cable; I doubled it. I used twin 4-gauge cable for the positive, just to be sure I'm ok.

I have a spare battery box, it includes 4 gauge wiring for the positive and negative terminals.

You can have it for $10 and the cost of shipping if you're interested? Let me know.

I grabbed it... Years ago when I first relocated my battery and didn't end up using it.

Are you sold on moving it to the back? keep in mind if you ever want to take the car to the track just to see how you stack up, youll need some approved safety items like a ventline and a kill switch for the battery that goes on the outside of the car. If the battery is in stock location, or up front at least secure, they do not care because you have your firewall, and probably factory wiring. I would do something like wrestler's ride. Ill eventaully move my battery to the rear, but i already have a battery box and cable left over from another car so I have a head start.

                          psi -

That's awkward... When I raced my Festiva last spring, they didn't care that the battery was in the rear.

When I autoX'ed the car last year and this year, they also didn't care. All they checked was to make sure it was secured, which it is.

not to worried about the track with this car. I don't feel like pouring money into this one to keep up with the other ones. I'm after the handling and milage... ah I can't lie maybe the odd honda....
