  • underhood insulation?

The sound level in the DeathEgg ('88 L+) is much better after my insulation project, but now I want to go further, and install an under-hood insulation blanket, like luxury cars have. Has anyone here done that yet? If not, I guess I'd be the first! I think it would reduce much of the engine noise.
    Thoughts? Opinions?
If it has boobs or wheels, sooner or later you're going to have trouble with it.

The b-quiet is good stuff. Used a couple rolls on my car. I got it off ebay, I think its cheaper on there. IIRC it comes out of alberta so no duty/tax exct.

Look here for the write-up on my insulation project:

Discuss enhancing your Festiva or Aspire interior and exterior (including custom paint, bodywork, seats, etc)

A noticeable difference in sound levels in the car. I do not have a sound meter, so I cannot give you exact numbers. I can turn my radio down because there is less road noise, and no rattles from the rear area, so it is much more comfortable to drive.

I forgot which small vehicle I got this out of. I think it was a yellow Ford product.
None of the holes line up. It's also a little too big I will map the holes with polyethylene.

                I don't have a festiva.
But I have an aspire which can be equally noisy in stock trim.

Vehicle is 2 layer dynamatted except floor and headliner
Later I put some on the firewall in the engine bay.
It also helped make a difference.

I noticed because I relied on engine sound to shift.
I was thrown off during shifts after installation.

Insulating the vehicle makes a huge difference.
You can talk to people at normal volume doing 70+
You can talk on the phone and people can understand you (I use speakerphone on hands free mode)
And you can keep the music volume lower and hear more details.

                My last stock aspire.
People couldn't hear me on the phone.
Passengers I basically had to yell at.
And music at full volume doing 70+ was hard to discern.

I personally think it was worth it.
And will be doing it to all my car ls in the future.

If your really interested and haven't done it.
Go for it you'll be pleasantly suprised at the results.
                Running 40psi.....in my tires.
