  • HVLP spraying and the neighbors

I am considering getting an HVLP gun, but I don't have a good indoor place to spray and am too cheap to rent a booth.

Would I end up ruining my neighbors cars (and/or lawns, shrubbery, houses) if I tried to paint outside? (ignoring the difficulty of bugs, bird poop and general airborne dirt)

Your can build a "booth" for cheap if you have the available space...pvc piping and plastic sheeting. I wouldn't paint outside just primer.

Doesnt even have to be PVC pipe. Could string clothesline if you have a couple trees and enough space between them. Drape plastic sheeting over top of it and shouldnt have too many issues.

Thirdman if you paint outside do it early morning towards the evening you'll have tons of insects flying around. I painted mine outside and only got one small insect in but wet sanded the car and got it out. Oh and no wind!!!
