  • speedometer cable routing

I have put in two new cable and after 1 min or running they broke, do anyone know where it is routed as I must be routing it wrong and causing a bind that is my guest as to why it is breaking.

the cable goes from the tranny up and through the fire wall that's the easy place to trace it to. It then goes strait to the back of the instrument cluster that's about it. I don't know how it was two since it should only be one cable going from the tranny strait to the back of the cluster. You need to lubricate it well that may be why it broke.
    the blue b6-ze oh yeah!!

Yeah, I found out the hard way doing the tach swap. Tried fitting the cluster back in with the cable running thru the stock center tunnel position. Talk about 30 to 45 min. of fustration!!!!!! Until I compared the two instrument clusters.....duh! found that the speedo drive on the tach combo is set more to the right.

So after rerouting the speedo cable over to the right, it was a straight shot deal & everything fit into place. Only problem now, I have the bouncing/dancing speedo needle syndrom( probably due to a bend/kink in the cable I caused from forcing it....anyways?)
