  • Cup holders!!!

    Hello all,

I'm almost done my "in console" double cup holders. I figure they're good for at least another 10 HP!!

Anyways, I used the cupholder assembly from a Mazda 323 or Protege (can't remember which one, sorry) and mated it to the Festivas. The door on the Mazda part is just the right width to fit in the Festiva console with the box part removed.

I just have to put a couple of finishing touches into it and then I'll get some pictures.

Please be detailed with the pictures and explain how you've done it!

everyone here who owns a festy knows how awful it is to drive and drink at the same time.. (items you can Drink in your festy while its on the road atlest)

but yea, you came up with the cup holders, its now up to you to show us what to do, oh great... ahh cup holder maker, yeah.

i've had the cupholder console from a protege in my festiva since 2002....pics on my site (which is down at the moment)

it doesn't really "fit" but it straddles the center bump in the floorpan and doesn't move at all

I just yank out the ashtray behind the e-brake. The space makes a fairly decent cupholder, although a bit awkward to reach.

It's the perfect size for a 355 ml can which is great, but pretty much everything else doesn't. I was thinking I'd put one of those cheap dashboard cupholders in but I'm not too sure if there'd be enough height for a travel mug or a 591 ml pop bottle.

i went to walmart and got 2 of those dollar plastic clip in the window cup holders....drilled a hole in them and cut the hanger off em. then screwed them into the metal between the door panel and the window...nothing fancy and it looks like crap but is WELL worth the convenience

I just uploaded a couple of pics of the cupholder install in the General Album. They're not done yet but I'll post a "how-to" when its all done.

I just remebered which car the cup holder part came out of.....

Look for early 90's Proteges. They came in serveral colors, I just picked up a grey one when I did mine.

I'll be taking the console out in a couple of weeks so I'll take some photo's of the back side so you can see what I did.

On sort of the same note.... would the glue used for plastic models work on the plastics use in the Festiva console and dash?

                          cup holder

I put a cup holder from a 91 Firebird on the bottom side of my door panel. It has a pocket in it and then comes out in the middle to place a large cup. It doesn't seem to get in the way for me and was quite simple to install.
