  • hatch light

I remember seeing a mod where a rear hatch had a switch to turn the trunk light on, does anyon know from what car that came from?

I think some have used the door switches off a festiva, the one's that turn the dome light on/off. Or if you have a hatch latch off a LX you won't need one, I got lucky enough to get a LX hatch

Yes LXs. You can make your own that works just as well though using OEM festiva parts.

Made one using the dome light switch, works great

Sooo... the hatch locking mechanism, the one on the right, with what looks like a wire & a plug sticking out of it? That come off an lx? That's what I should go hunting for?

And is there a default plug in the wiring harness or do I "need" to splice if my car isn't an LX?

The latch on the left is the one with the cargo light switch. Some cars have the plug already prewired. I think this is the wire you need to plug the switch into.

Kofkof my 93 was prewired for this latch, so should most cars be prewired also. Yes you want the latch out of a LX.

Sweet! I have a cargo light, it's just not wired in right now.

                        Thank you very much.

If you just grund the one wire the light will work with the switch on the light. But you need the latch for it to work when you open the hatch.

Like Brian said, just make one of these and plug it into the same plug where the latch would plug into and you can use the cargo light manually.

There is a ground bolt already near the prewired switch plug, see below

I've noticed the US cars come prewired for a few things that us canadians don't get (like having the wires running through the doors for power mirrors), this could possibly be one of them
