Im not sure this is the right forum so moderator move to where ever you want.
Before I had picked up my latest festiva, the 1993 blue GL, it had been sitting by a grain field for several years. The mice had made it their home and as nasty as it is their public restroom as well. The inside of the car was nasty. I haven’t found where they had chew on anything but I did find a nest in the glove box and under the rear seat. I’ve never seen so much mouse S…. stuff. The car reeked. It gagged me to get in it when I first picked it up. I bought several different deodorizers and left the windows down on it for a week. Didn’t help, it still reeked, just smelled like deodorized mouse sh…..stuff. So I got this product below.
It’s a liquid enzyme/ live bacteria that digests organic waste and destroys uric acids ( the origin of the stink). You can use it in potable toilets and outhouses as well as septic tanks to digest waste. It can also be use as a carpet deodorizer or you can pour it down your sink , stools and showers to digest grease and disinfect and deodorize . It has a lot of uses. For my purpose the instructions said to spray on with a mister and cover the seats and or carpet with wet towels for one hour. Then use a forced water extractor to clean afterwards. It was the ticket see pictures below. I misted the seat and covered with wet towels and the “stuff” began dissolving and got soaked up into the wet towels. After an hour I steamed cleaned. Even now hours later I can still go out there and a brown area will have come to the surface ( guess it’s still working) and I can take a dry towel and just wipe it off. Smells fresh like a freshtiva car should too. Good stuff !! Thought id share in case someone else rescues a festiva with similar odor issues. Guess it works on cigarette smoke and other things as well.
Before Cleaning smelling very bad.
After misting and covering with wet towels for an hour.
See how the organic “stuff “ is being drawn into the wet towel as it is dissolved
After steam cleaning they smell fresh and new with an occasional brown spot still surfacing.
Tomorrow I'll spray down the interior and carpet and repeat process
