  • What temperatures are H and C on the instrument cluster??

I'm making a custom paper cluster from the one on the main ff.com page, and I have a quick question. I decided to write Litres remaining numbers instead of just F/E, and I don't know what the numbers would be for the temperature gauge. What number does Hot correspond to? and Cool? If anybody could help me with this question I'd appreciate it, otherwise it's straight up F/E, H/C

    Marc

PS, who made the cluster? measuring everything must have taken some effort.

    no exact numbers

Its just a guestimation on what H/C stand for, because C is always what ever outside temperture is that day, and H is always as hot as Your actual engine can go before it blows a head gasket. I really don't think there is any number you could put, unless you put like 0, and 100 and say 75 is to hot for your car? KNow what i mean?

The best way is to do a science experiment. Get a hot plate, a thermometer and some wire. Remove the temp sending unit and extend the wire and add a ground to the outside of the sending unit to the block. Place the tip of the sending unit in a pan of water on the hot plate along with the thermometer. Turn the key so the gages work and slowly start to heat the water. Watch the temp on the thermometer and mark it on the cluster. Simple as that.

I'm sorry, but I have to say it H=Hot and C=Cold.

Some of the European clusters have numbers on the temp gauages.

            I think the C is about 100F.

However, the "middle" is kind of strange.

When I had my aftermarket temp gauge hooked up it would read 130F and the cluster would read right in the middle at normal.

And it would stay there until 190F until it would go above halfway.

So apparently it's not very linear anyways.

when you do the B6 swap your shit rides on C all the time, yet it still warmed up.

dunno why that is...something screwy with the thermostat or something. I think the B6 needs a 195 or 205 degree thermo while the stock festiva uses a 180

My B6 had the temp gauge in the middle almost all the time. *shrug*
