  • Making the seats work again.

Hello, it's me again with another question.

I can't get the seats to slide on the rails! It seems as if both sides aren't engaging, on the passenger side the guy tried to fix it with fish weights. Any ideas? I was thinking the handle might be bent.

Unbolt the seat, take it out & turn it upside down. Observe if the cable is intact and check if the handle is actuating both "pawls" on the rails.

Focustiva: Because I was told it was was impossible to fit a Focus bumper on a Festiva.

On the passenger side the cable seems stretched, but the "pawl" on the hendle side isn't disconnecting fully ethier.

Try the repair forum but without seeing it Id suggest cleaning, lubing, & repeat on the cable and lever and etc. How do the fish weights help...by taking the slack out ? Maybe you just need to shorten the cable.

I'll get some later, I have an XR2 to take apart now, the seats aren't top priority. But pretty much the gist of it is the handle side doesn't lift high enough to disengage either side of the seat, that's why I think the seat handle is bent upward.

The seats have an adjustable cable underneth, should be able to adjust easy. Mine did (90-93).

yeah, but the cable doesn't bother the handle side, the handle side isn't disengaging either.
