  • RX-7 Gauge Cluster Swap

I've heard some talk about a 2nd Gen RX-7 Gauge Cluster swap. I thought I had seen a thread about it recently, but I couldn't find anything. So from what I've read the speedocable screws in and the rest needs to be soldered. What about the actual mounting? What needs to be done to fit the cluster in the car.

The RX7 cluster, the speedo cable fits, but it's off a crazy amount.

You would have to trim the dash and cluster to get it in the space.

          323 GTX IIRC...

He had to cut and fit it into his dash.

Did he ever post any pics or a "how to" about it? I would like to try something like that. I wonder how hard it was to do?

He had to cut the dash and cluster to make it fit and then re-wire it all...

this is the cluster before i trimmed the tabs on the side off... it will fit into the opening on the festiva but the mounting points where the old cluster screwed into in the dash will need to be trimmed... right now im working with the diagrams between the festy and rx7 Turbo II cluster (i wanted the boost gauge for future applications with my bp  ) and trying to make a final diagram on what goes where, when i am done i will post the schematics up and doing this should become a relatively easy swap i hope!

the only problem is i need to have the speedo recalibrated... the festy one runs at 1025rev=1 mile where as the rx7 one runs at 1025rev=1km

so its a bit off yeah, but nothing reclaibration cant fix

                          picture

I couldn't find my scanner but I took a picture of all of them, and at full size you can read it fine, I don't know I would have to email you them, because of photobucket restrictions on size.
