Use cardboard...it would be crazy light! Haha, but really, the aluminum would be cool. I know someone on here has done that before. Depends what look you're going for though. Would you cover the fiberboard if you used that?

yeah i would. i think the aluminum would be racey(or ricey) looking but cool. the fronts are my main concern as i am going to put some 6 1/2 speakers in them. the stereo guy i know said the MDF would be best for the sound, the aluminum would be the lightest but sound tinny. and no panels just looks bad. i have a bp and the g25mr tranny, so racey(or ricey) kinda fits but i do drive it everyday and dont want it to sound like crap. also on a side note and totally unrelated, i just finished building new poly mounts and now the whole car shakes with the motor, so i need to have a good loud stereo to drown it out.

a lady goes to pick up her car from the mechanic and he tells her, "We couldn't fix the brakes on your car so we just made the horn louder."

I'd go with the MDF then. Who cares about that small amount of extra weight when you have a BP pushing it!?

It might be expensive, unless you have a source for it, but diamond plate metal would be pretty cool too.
