  • Factory Roof Rack??

I picked up this roof rack off a Festiva today. Im pretty sure its factory because insted of just screws it had these treaded inserts that were perminatly installed in the roof. I tryed to get them out and even looked under the headliner to see if there were nuts on the back of them but there wasnt. Ist like they were rivets installed from the factory. Anyways I not sure what Im going to do with it because my car has a sunroof and it dont fit. Heres some pics.

Here is one, I think there were a couple of different ones, all dealer installed. Its a grey area. Ive never had one but would like to, they would come in handy.

I almost wish I found the car before others started to pull parts otherwise I would have bought the whole thing. Thanks for digging up the pic Freshtiva I figured you would know If it was the right one or not.

The attaching points in the roof are called rivnuts. You drill a hole, insert the rivnut, and then use a special tool that screws into the rivnut and when the handle is squeezed, it expands it so it is tight in the hole. We use them in aircraft all the time. Once installed, there is no getting them out without drilling them. They are not reusable.

Silver Beast has roof rack brackets on it as well. After I pulled the headliner this evening I noticed the anchoring points are a little different than the rivnuts i described earlier. These look similar, but appear to be welded.
