  • Single Wiper?

I've been watching some of my old Touring Car tapes (BTCC) and one of the things that made them look bitchin' was the fact that they only had one single windshield wiper. I think it's a really clean look...has anyone tried this? It looks like it wouldn't be too tuff to do - remove the stock motor on the driver's side, weld the hole shut on the cowl and mount a smaller motor in the middle hole (to clear the engine, etc.) It happens to be exactly in the center of the windshield....looks like one of the stock wipers would be all you need, too..... any thoughts, flak, feedback, ??? Any input would be appreciated....

    Thanks

use only one stock festy wiper? they are only 18 inches. i dont think that would be enough to get both sides....maybe if you go to 22 or 24 inches it would be decent but then again it would be hard to be able to clear both sides and not hit the top when the wiper is vertical. would be a custom touch to a festy tho.

actually, Festies and Assfires originally came with an 18" blade on the right (pass) side and a 21" blade on the left (driver) side. The universal replacement is 18" on both sides.

Looks ugly... Stock cars that the uni-wiper comes on, makes it lay flat on the windsheild and then do a full swipe across it... The ghetto way of doing this is doing how you suggested, but putting the wiper in the middle of the windsheild so it sort-of cleans where you need to see.

If you modified the linkage so that the wiper would make a full sweep (from laying down on the pass side, to the drivers side) it wouldn't be as bad... But it's still pretty ugly.

it can look good on the right car. Unfortunately, I don't think Festivas are the right cars. My opinion only.

ill have to agree on the clean look. it makes things much simpler. and you might even save a couple of pounds.

                  Single Wiper?

Wow! Didn't expect that much of a response....thanks for the input...didn't expect the "ghetto" label  as Super Touring cars ran them that way for years, but whatever. I think I'm going to try it when I get the chance. I'll post some pics if & when I actually get around to doing the mod.

                  Thanks again,

I agree wholeheartedly. There's so little space between the back of the rear door and the back of the car...It's so kickass!

                            Single Wiper?

No, I don't have a Super Touring car, but I like the look - clean, stripped down, lowered to the deck, etc....best-looking fwd (race) cars on the planet, IMO.
