Yesterday I attempted to remove the two rear tow brackets on my Festiva. I took my 14mm Snap-On impact socket on my 1/2" ratchet and proceeded to snap off the head of the first bolt. Snap off with Snap on?
I did that so easily, I decided to try it again on the other side. Guess what. That snapped off too. Does anyone know if these tow brackets are welded on? Or, are they only held on with one bolt? Can you say extraction time? I may have to remove the bumper to get a straight shot with the drill. I just wanted to have the brackets off to use as a template for waterjet cutting a couple of stainless end pieces for fabricating a 2" square hitch.
