Surely there's some current-production plastic tray that matches the essence of those dimensions in order to slide properly. I used to get catalogs in the mail of such stuff. Has anybody spent some time online looking for something like that? Say, from a manufacturer of plastic trays used for "kitting" parts used in electronic assembly? I'll betcha it's a $5 item from some source, and is probably even available in a half dozen different colors.

No, there is no other tray that will work. Ive heard this many times before but Ive never seen anyone come up with a off the shelf tray that will work the same.

If someone wanted to lay out $10,000 to have 1,000 trays made only to sell 100 at $50 apiece they could lose $5,000 . Not going to happen, IMO.

We just need to find someone with a vaccum mold and create two mold halves

                          Greg,
Is it big enough to do an under seat tray?
And in a material that could be used to make a tool for vacuum forming?

So why would Kia have spent the dough and hassle to mold a "custom" tray? Who's to say they didn't look in their catalogs of off-the-shelf plastic trays, say "This one will do," and then go out and order a bazillion of them at 2 bucks each? Why make something lo-tech like a tray when that's not part of your "core competency" and you can just buy it?

It might also be a stock kitty litter box, though those lateral ribs in the bottom would bother most cats.

What are the chances this size tray was used on some other Kias?

I've tried the Tracer underseat tray, but it's not the right size. It's smaller and shallower.

How about the Kia Sportage? Anyone ever check out one of those? (I know some vans have underseat trays.)
