  • Recoloring Seat Belts

I decided to avoid the High cost of changing webing to black so I thought I would try a dye first.

    Here is the dye bath

    After rinsing hanging to dry

Hopefully they will look darker once dry but initially they look charcoal grey.

since were on the seat belts is there a way to fix them so they roll all the way back up or are they pretty much shot... cause i was thinking about doing what you are doing but well it's not really worth it if i can't get them to go back in... the have like 2 feet of slack after i unhook it to get out

If you notice mine are all held with vice grips or C clamps to keep them from rolling back up. One thing I noticed when I first was testing them is theres something in them that they have to be in the same position as they are mounted in the car to function properly(i.e. if they are upside down they do not roll out or back correctly) but when mine were in the correct position they worked properly

Mine were having this problem on one of my cars. Turned out there was broken glass inside the case where the belt rolls into. If you haven't already, you might want to unroll the belt as far as you can and shake it out to see if anything is in there keeping it from rolling all the way back in.

It looks good. I wouldnt give up yet. It generally takes more than one time to get to the color you want. No matter what the material being dyed is.

I thought I would try a different brand dye next time - thing is I had to let this one sit for a week to let it all absorb
