  • Anyone install seat heaters?

Sounds like an option on a high priced luxury car, but my commute is 5 miles, and sometimes only takes 12 minutes. So most of the cars I have driven over the years don't get warm enough from the heat before I get to work.

Has anyone purchased some aftermarket heaters to install in factory seats, what ever they may be? I hate the thought of looking in the JC Whitless catalog.

the really low budget method would be to get an inverter, a small electric blanket, and a seat cover.

hook up the blanket, put it on the seat, put the seat cover over it.

I think that make electric blankets that plug in to the cig lighter.
and I know there are EB's that work on 9V batteries (check hunting/outdoors-man stores)

the battery operated one would be a good idea since you can turn it on and let it warm up before the car gets turned on.

my last Festiva I just slid a 1/2" piece of foam rubber under the seat cover during winter. It did a good job at reducing how cold my keester got when I got into the car.

Just take the car into the house with you each night!

If you have a mud room that would work well. Sometimes they get a bit messy when the snow and ice melt off.

not hard at all, you just have to slide the heaters under the upholstery and hook up the wires, and the switch. Should take a couple of hours if you do it right and make sure that the power leads are fused some where.
