  • RX7 steering wheel

Put my new RX7 wheel in the b6 car this morning. Bolts right on. Did discover a difference in the older steering columns and the newer ones. The combination switch mounts about a 1/4 of an inch lower on the older festys. This is my first image shack picture after I maxed out my photobucket account.

Can you still use the horn when you use those steering wheels?

Yes just take off the old wheel and bolt the RX7 wheel on. Horn, blinker canceler, same as the festiva. Even the same diameter. Nice soft feel to the RX wheel. I did try to honk at a friend today and reached for the horn button on the steering wheel spoke where it is on the festiva wheel. Missed my chance by the time I figured it out.

I also did this swap in my festiva, its nice except for the aforementioned wiper stalk and blinker stalk interference, and the horn works.

I really like the open design. So do you keep the Mazda insignia even though it is in a Ford Festiva or is it the whole idea of having a Mazda steering wheel?

Yeah, I know that Mazda parts were interchangeable with the Festiva and that it was an import. I think you missed the point of my question, but that's okay. The RX7 steering wheel is very cool looking.

I wanted the Mazda insignia since the car has an engine from a Mazda in it now.

Just a note: she had 17 Festivas in her yard at one time, in various states of disrepair.
