But, LKQ has a much more reasonable price for leather. I have bought a complete black leather Intrepid interior from them before and have been completely satisfied. It also helps if you can freight it on a pallet to a friend's factory on the border.

The Tiburon seats are the same width as the Festiva. The adjusting mechanisms are much smoother. They also weigh more. The track spacing on the Festiva is 16.75". The track spacing on the Tiburon is 16.5".
The main problem I will have is making up for the 1.75" difference in height, between the inside and outside tracks.

I'm sure glad I have two good drill presses for all those rivets. The Tiburon has two rivets each, whereas the Festiva has only one.

The Tiburon seats are far more comfortable than the Festiva seats. I have no choice but to complete the project. Watch for updates. Now where did I put my Metabo grinder down?

step 1

Drill out all the rivets. My goodness, the Tiburon rivets are huge. Talk about overkill. They must have been put on with a 60 ton press.

Step 1 took about 40 minutes. I am now searching for replacement rivets.

Obviously, since both Tiburon seats have the release bar in the front, I cannot fit my underseat tray under the passenger seat. Therefore, I will bring it to Ohiostiva 2010 to sell. Don't ask me for it now. You must show up to Ohiostiva 2010. You better start planning.

Impreza seats

Anybody have JDM Subaru Impreza WRX STI GC8 V4 Seats in their Festiva?

At least you could put in a 4-point seat belt.

No fair! The 2010 WRX seats are a cheap imitation of my Tiburon seats.

different buckle

The Tiburon buckle is much narrower than the Festiva one and does not fit.

I have three choices.
1) Grind down the Festiva buckle and the chrome plating would be compromised.
2) Get out the stich ripper and put the Tiburon latch on the Festiva belt, then resew.
3) Get a whole new custom buckle waterjet cut and then chromed.

What do you think would be the best choice?

Also I bought some 5/16" X 3/4" rivets to clinch the Festiva brackets to the Tib rails. I think I will have a few left over. I will need 16 out of 250. These rivets are big. I will have to use some of my big brilles. .401 doesn't cut it!

why not just use your festiva buckle? when I added my Mercury cougar seats in my aspire I just left the aspire brackets in the aspire and unbolted the cougar buckles from the seats.

I have decided on #4. Many different latches from other car models interchange with the Tiburon latch.

I will just use the stitch ripper to remove the old thread an get it resewn at the shoe repair shop in the plaza close by. I like the idea of the latch being attached to the seat instead of the floor. Next post, I will show you how to solid rivet the Festiva seat pads onto the Tib seat frame.

The most comfortable seats I've ever sat in came from a 03 Volvo S60, and my DD is a Mercedes! I would love to put a set of those in my festy!

i have 2009 leather Tiburon seats in my 91 l check them out not much modding either a welder helps... the only problem i have is the center console over the ebrake lever doesnt fit with the seats ... very comfy though
