ok i guess this would fall in exterior catagory. FB71....could you tell me how that hitch was rigged up? i read that you and someone picked up another festiva and towed it with a festiva. i been wanting to make a hitch for my car since i got it. just enought to tow my 4 wheeler on a lawn mower trailor. i dont know what would be a good starting point

I sold a tow hitch for a Festiva last year. They are made by D'Lan.. I have another brand that I pulled from a Festiva in the j/y.. basicly it just bolts to the spare tire cradle and to the bumper..

I do not wish to interrupt but if you start making those tow hitches let me know and I'll buy one from you. I need something to hitch a small trailer to so that I may haul a few things around.

thanks for the pic dj. shouldnt be hard to replicate....it just bolts to the underside of the bumper??? im definatly going to be reinforcing that part somehow

mine's a bit more serious than that. I'll snap some pics this weekend.

I removed the rear bumper, took off the cover and styrofoam, burned a 2 1/2" square hole through it, and welded a reciever tube to the bumper. I reinforced it with plate around the tube both front and back, and welded some rebar from the tube to both bumper mounts, top and bottom. Then I drilled and tacked in place some 14ga plates on the body where the bumper bots on. Reinstalled the cover with no styro, and cut the hole though the cover.

Actually it bolts to both the spare tire well and the rear bumper. They're pretty sturdy.. Shorty towed a trailer with 2 Harleys on it from Houston to Seattle in a 90 festiva that had like 180k on it with no real problems.. Well, besides the couple of mountain passes he had to granny up..

I have a class 2 hitch with receiver that I had on my Festiva when I used it to tow my jet ski! I bought it from U-haul.

I plan on getting another Festiva as well. Only problem is, they are scarce around here...
