  • 323 cluster?

Did a search on "Mazda cluster" to try and find out if a 323 instrument cluster will fit directly (or with minimal mods) into a Festy. No luck.

I'd like to find a Gen 1 (1986 - 89) 323 tach cluster and stick it into my blue Festiva to get a speedo that goes over 85. I want it to be pretty much plug and play tho.

And I need another one to put into my 323, which tragically does not have a tach; but at least the speedo goes to 120.

um for the festiva the protege cluster is best bet for least amount of modding. all you do is swap the speedo mechanism. also a custom face plate will have to be made. i am doing this swap when i buy the cluster.

The first-gen 323 cluster looks about the same as the Festy one in overall shape; that is why I am asking about it. I'm trying to avoid swapping speedos and custom faceplates.

The easiest plug and play speedo that goes over 85 is a Kia Pride one from England. It goes to 110mph! Looks like this.

Greg, tomorrow's gonna get pretty hot--about 48 degrees--so I might pull the 323 cluster to compare the overall size of it, and the connections on the back, to the Festy one.

That would do nicely. Are they available still? Who do you gotta know?

^^EbayUK look for someone parting a Kia Pride. Although you either have to move the pins or swap a US circuit board on the back.

If I remember right someone moded the 323 cluster in - it required some cutting and custom covering to make it work as well as some wiring changes - i cant remember who though

My friend put a 323GT cluster in his Festiva but he also use the 323GT harness so I can't help you with the wiring. But it fit with a little trimming.

how hard is it to change the mileage of a cluster to match the mileage of the car it is going in?
Also, for this 323 cluster, is the speedometer cable connection the same? (Plug with hole for the square cable)?
