They look like halogen reflector housings with hid bulbs. You need projectors to not blind people in front of you. Great that you get a lot of light but sucks for everyone else. This has nothing to do with you but I'm sick of every other car/truck with these setups.

right....I am going to just drive around and not care at all if I am blinding anybody.
So do you drive around with your brights on? In case you missed it....the HIGH BEAMS are hid...the lows are normal beam.

I thought your photos were labeled HID-low and HID-high looking at the headlights. They do look quite bright.

Right...but I did that just to distinguish between the silver stars and the new lights....in the first post I say that they are xenon lows and hid highs.

HID only when you are using high beams....

Not sure about anyone else....but I do not drive with my high beams on when people are coming towards me or I am behind anyone that I can see there tail lights.

The pics are not really a true gauge of what they look like in person. If you take a pic of lights on a car at night....they all look like they are blinding you.

well I would love to tell you....but I did not buy them originally and they did not come with the original box or manual.

I went back and looked...thought pwgus posted a link to the lights but I can not find it.

I know packrat installed some on his going back at least 2 years now I think. His were hid low and high. I know he put brows on his and adjusted the lights down so he was not blinding anyone. He has stated that he has never had anyone flash him since his install.

The ones I got are different....his only used one of the headlight plugs to run the lights. Mine use both plugs...probably because they are not HID when on low beams.

These are so simple to hook up I do not know why I waited a few days. Take out the old bulb....put in the new, plug the headlight plug into the new socket and connect the other plugs to the converter box. You are on your way. I have the boxes sitting right next to the tops of the struts. I will have to get a few self tapping bolts and mount the holders so they will never move around but they are not going anywhere at the moment.

Hrrrm I'm seriously looking into a set of HID's... there's so many deer around here I don't want to wreck my car!! I also don't want to be an a-hole and blind all the other drivers lol

So your set-up would be perfect!

WAIT am I correct that you have only 1 bulb for both halogen & HID. Xenon is HID so by saying[quote=GenevaDirt;288871
I believe they are xenon lows and hid highs......[/quote]
Both are HID & xenon, its like saying to-mate-o vs to-mot-o.
Now if you have bulbs like this

I could see having halogen lows but can only find halogen high's

This kit I dont even understand

it takes about 25k volts to excite the xenon then something like 35w to continue the process. There is no Add more juice to make it brighter so I'm thinking the following...

                              1. They are halogen lows with HID highs
                              2. They are HID lows with halogen highs
                              3. The larger larger base of the plug in the second link moves the bulb to where the highs would be. i.e. little servo, linear actuator, solenoid.

And as someone who has caravan-ed with doug at night I will say I still hate those lights. They are darn annoying to be in front of. I've told him its like someone MIG welding in the background, that same "dont look but its too bright not too" sensation.

                              BTW I need sleep
and it seems like some manufacturers are using xenon to shield the tungsten filament in what is basically halogen bulb with xenon gas.

Yes I kinda know a bit about the whole HID thing as its cool techie stuff like LED's that appeals to my inner nerd. An other member and myself are currently working on a proper HID projector setup for festiva's.
