Hear they are not the best can't really see my brackets. All they are is a piece of thin metal strip bent to fit inside of the console. Then the rear cup holders were cut and set as close to the console to hide the gap.

corolla drink holders

I have always wanted a drink holder. The Toyota Corolla insert only leaves about a 1/32" gap on either side of the stock Festiva below dash storage box. Unfortunately, The drink holders are for coffee cups or pop cans only. They are too small for a bottle of Snapple.
I will therefore leave the stock box in there and make a single, large cup holder for the ashtray slot.

Escort and Protege console

BTW...
The mid '90's Protege is the same console. These procedures will be the same for both Escort and Protege consoles. The only difference is the Protege has slide out drink holders that hide behind a little door.
