  • escort map light

Ok bought a map light from euro witch is great shape, but i went to install it and it don't look like it will fit right. I did read the thread that wcbarker did. I seem to not be able to get it to sit right. It seems like there is part of the roof is in the way. Is this just because of the head liner? I have not cut it just yet was trying to mock it up and are having troubles.

It should fit just fine. Put one in my 88 L. All the screw holes are there, even though the festy light uses less screws. The Escort connector is a little bigger, but just tuck it in and it will be fine. Also if you hook it up and it doesn't work right, switch the wires and it will. If you do a search, there is a write up on the correct wire connection.

So all three screw holes are already in the roof of the festiva?

Yes all 3 screw holes are there. On mine I had to cut a small section of the headliner to get it to fit. Where the map lights are sticks up above the headliner so I had to cut a (approimate measurements, use a tape to measure before cutting) 1 1/2" X 3" hole on the opposite side of the crossmember (the middle screw connects into it). Fits like a glove.

Well my mini tape must have fallen into one of the cracks or I left it at the shop. I can give you a for sure measurement tomorrow but it isn't any farther than 5 inches but more like 4.

                        exactly

Here is a pic showing the minimum you would have to cut the headliner to make it fit.

Notice how the other screw hole is hiding.
You will have to punch two holes and cut a rectangle where the new lights are.

Hey do the 90-93 dome lights go through the harness that goes into the doors?
I put doors from my 89 on my 92 and didn't take the harness from the doors and the light won't work.

The door harness is for the auto seatbelts.

ok well my dome light wiring isn't getting any power. I wired it the way was said to in the thread and nothing so i test lighted it and not getting any juice to the light. The old did work when i got the car.
