defrost window swap

Not sure if in right spot for this, but can be moved if not in right spot.
I have a 92 GL and it don't have the rear defrost. I have a 89 that has rear defrost and want to swap it over to my 92. What all do i need to swap them?

Wiring my car should have it all since it is a 90-93 car. I know some of the 88-89's don't.
I have the window and no gasket, but the one's in the car how do i remove the window with out cutting or breaking it?

I know it can be done by carefully scraping out the old gasket and threading the rope through the gap and using a sawing motion work your way around the gasket until the window is out, but while I have seen this technique tried a few times it has always ended in the window cracking.

I think your thinking of the windsheild, for the rear window just start on the inside carefully folding the rubber lip toward the centre of the glass and slowly working around the window, its a pain, but its possible

My 91 does not have the wiring there is a connector behind the left taillight for the harness to plug into

from inside the car like your trying to push the glass outwards, having someone give you a hand will make it easier

Break the non-defog glass and save the rubber seal. Cut the defog rubber and remove the glass. Install non-defog rubber with defog glass. Done.

not cool levitan what if someone was in need of a back window like there car got broken into! idk bout every one else but that's like when you have a bunch of stuff in your garage for years never use it then when you get rid of it you need it

Yeah i don't want to break the window because i am putting it in to the other car to keep snow out of the stuff i have in the back. So the wiring will be on the hatch and runs through the hatch to the plug in the car by the driver side tail light.

Hey RJ,
We are talking about standard rear glass, not a spoiler. Between the ppl on here at this time, we probably have 25 between us. I don't believe in destroying stuff for the sake of destroying stuff, you know me better than that. Previous posts even said they break most of the time. Like Kemp said, it's the easiest and fastest way to do it. That's all I was saying. Pick and choose your battles, and if it was my battle, a hammer wins. And if you need hatch glass, pm me and I'll get you one of the several I have!

And to answer your question yes the wires will run from the hatch to a connector behind the left panel on the drivers rear - its easier to access with the tail light removed

Have been working so have not done it yet as well with all the snow we just got. So been a little slow, but going to pull the defrost tonight or tomorrow morning. Will let you guys know soon.
