  • Seat belt anchor on the B pillar?

I hate the mouse belts, and the one on the passenger side is coming undone and has to be repaired or replaced. I would love to go to a standard-style belt.

Since these cars were sold in other markets where Claybrook et al did not get to ruin perfectly good seat belts with "passive restraints" is there a place on the B pillar for the upper mount for a seat belt? I have not had a chance to take the trim off mine to look, but want to be on the lookout for suitable replacement belts if I can easily make the switch. I thought that when I put in the Escort console I could swap out the female part of the buckle to work with a standard belt.

    Thank you for your help,

    Garsdad
The Mini is now the "big car".

The Canadian version does not have the motorized belts if I remember correctly.
Several people on here have used the 88-89 belts and they will bolt to the door post. I believe the holes are already there.

the mounting holes are there on my 91 - any pre-90 US model or any year canadian model will work - you will need to swap the a/b pillar covers, the ebrake console and the headliner for it to look factory - if you want you can swap the rears for lap belts (all you have to do is use the bolts for your sholder belts in place of the bolts for the lap belts) If you search someone did a write up on swaping the front belts - I remember they had to make a small tab to secure the top of the retractor to the b pillar but it utilized the same hole and your current lap belt if I remember correctly. You will need all of the trim from the older model (or canadian) to make it work the trims dont convert (all the mounting holes are there though)
