dieing the dash

I have a 89 festiva, and the dash is starting to turn black in spots. It is a tanish brown, with black spots. Has anyone tried to Die the dash before? What type of die did you use, how long did it take to dry, and what did it look like?

Wil did his dash in black and it looked great. Not sure what he had used tho.

A friend of mine is covering his dash in a red fur to match his roof and seats.
