I have the metal, welder, and time but I just don't know if I feel like riding around in a loud car again. I won't be racing it but the temptation is always there to cage it.
what are your plans for the car? why strip the interior?
BP swap, slammed, 15" wheels.
and to answer your second question, i don't know. it's just something i've always done and kinda feels like a requirement for me. plus the interior is nasty and missing a bunch of stuff.
plus stripped feels faster :laughing2:
but i bet i'll gain more weight back with the cage. i'm starting to lean to the minimalist with DIY braces now.
When I got my car, the student already had one of the rear seat supports off. He was going to install a roll cage. It had the Aspire suspension already done. I decided to go with "minamalist" no back seat, and then fully load the rest. Except for, stock radio and speakers. Because I don't want to tempt anyone. Nothing pretentious. Nothing gaudy. Just lots of get up and go. I have even decided not to put any Festiva logos on the outside (except for the stock mudflaps). I will bring all of my collected emblems to Ohiostiva.
If its never going to see the track then why prep if for the track - unless you want the look (and feel) of a track car. I've seen some sharp hot rods that were build like a track car that have never even seen a track acept from the parking lot infront of it. I've also seen Hondas with the stripped interior that were going for the track look but epicly failed.
Personally if its not a track car put all the options avalible for it into the interior - minimalist cage if you must. I'm building mine for street so I'm still keeping the rear seat and all the interior - even adding options not availible in the states.
Ultimately do what makes you happy - Its your car - Your the one that has to ride around in it.
I keep the rear seats, as I lay them down and have FUN back there with my lady friend....
