After Installing my SE cluster, I took apart and poked and prodded the old stock cluster. (in retrospect, probably not a good idea considering i'm not 1000% sure that i didn't mess anything up in the other one)
Anyway, I pulled out the indicator light dealies. It's just plastic that's nightshaded and colored behind.
Also, the turn signal bits are tiddily-wink sort of deals. Those would be very easy to replace and I intend to. I just need some tiddily winks, or similar size plastic circles.
AAAAAnyway, on to the indicators. Does anyone know of a method or company for getting new ones made? Ignore my saying method, while I could make some white ones on paper or label media or something, I'm not exactly sure how good that'd look. However, I'm going to try it in a minute.
Anyway, does anyone know anyone who makes custom gauge faces or anything who might be able to make me some new little plastic gauge light dealies? Different colors would be nice, maybe all purple, maybe blue, maybe check engine red and rear defog blue.
Also, custom lights would be nice. I'm never going to attempt to put ABS in, so that lamp could be repurposed. rewiring the bulb would be easy, I could either look at a diagram to get the correct wire to reroute or just insulate the terminals and patch my own wires in. A 'fog lights are on' indicator would be nice. Not that I can't tell, but there's one for the rear defogger so why not?
The seat belts light hasn't worked in years, and I never forget my belt, so why not something else there too? I'm not sure what though, suggestions are welcome and encouraged. I'm planning my own car kit sort of thing for my phone, not crazy routing audio through the speakers but a simple slot for putting the phone so it'll charge... maybe I can figure out a way to make an incoming call light. If that doesn't work, does anyone else have any ideas?
What do you all think about this idea in general? I ws thinking a different font and nicer icons at least for the normal lights as well... to make it look less sterile and industrial and all.
