  • So tell me about aftermarket funtops

Can a reputable interior shop that let's say does replacement convertible tops already for other vehicles be able to do this to a Festiva? Under $600?

More important has anyone does this to a Festiva yet?

I'm not really knowledgeable about this, but I'd think that kind of custom work would be well over $1000 unless you could do a lot of it yourself.

I think the Webasto sliding softops were around $1000 but I don't know if that's just the purchase price or totally installed.

One thing I'm thinking of would be to neatly cut most of a roof off while taking care to leave some of the support framing for a "ledge" or base. Then trim roof panel and roof edges as necessary (and for waterproofing) and add some kind of attachments for a removeable roof. It would not be too conveniant, but would be good for cruising on nice days. Maybe if you made the removable part fold in the middle you could fit it in the car. Just an idea.
