  • Just ordered a funtop to put in my Aspire

I just ordered a funtop from www.slidingragtops.com. I plan on installing it into my Aspire... I'm just not sure which one.

    What do you guys suggest?

The blue one has had a ton of work done to it and is a base model with many upgrades.

The red one is a rare SE model that I just purchased and will need some work.

If it ever came down to it and I HAD to sell one of them, I'd get rid of the SE first. (only b/c the blue one has had extensive mechanical work)

Part of me says put it in the blue one b/c it's the most reliable. Then part of me says put it in the SE b/c that would make it even more cool!!

    Suggestions???

No question. It would match the style better. I would put a sunroof in the blue one (which is probably more practical than the fun top anyway). Plus, if you had to sell the red one, it would add to the value and offset the mechanical work that is needed. Then, if it works out good, you can always buy another one for the blue one or go with the sunroof.

Put it in the red SE, and swap over all the nice stuff from the blue one. Then you'll have the best of both worlds.

Here are some suggestions I've received at FA.com and via festi friends....

1.) Since the SE is special already, adding this to it won't increase the value. The blue one isn't as unique and is more "dependable" at this point, so put it in that one so you can drive with it now.

2.) The blue one b/c it's a shame to cut up a rare SE.

3.) The SE b/c it will make it more special.

At this point, I'm leaning more to the blue one.

I'd like to eventually put a BP in the SE! Wouldn't that be fun?!

I definitely plan on posting all the info and pics about it as soon as I receive it. (which should be somewhere around the week of May 21st.)

Then I'll do a complete write-up for the installation.

The owner of ragtops emailed me & asked that I measure the curvature of the roof. I did this by placing a level in the middle of the ragtop location and measured the distance from the level to the roof.

I measure front and back and side to side... all came up 3/4" gap.

He requested this info so he could make the frame curve exactly to the roof for an easier fit.

So far, I'm feeling good about this purchase and the customer care being given!
