  • RX-7 steering wheel/horn question

Went to the JY today and found one of those 4-spoke RX-7 steering wheels, in near-new condition. It was a carbed RX-7, so probbably around late 70s I'd guess. The odo had 127K on it, and the wheel looked like the PO used driving gloves when he/she drove it. Took it to the front and the old half-blind guy with a broken arm in the wheelchair quoted me a price, which I objected to as being too high. Words were exchanged, fists flew. I lost, so I had to pay the whole $11.

So anyhoo, my question is this: for Festy steering wheels I have to connect a wire to make the horn work. The RX-7 wheel has no wire, but the part that touches the steering shaft is metal. Does this just ground itself and automatically work, or do I have to hook the Festy wire up somehow to have a horn?

if you look closely on your turnsignal mount there is a little glider button that rides on the stock steering wheel for power - to ground the wheel simply tighten the nut onto the wheel

If I am able to get a festiva this is the wheel I will go with if I dont get a grant. To many people put chrome or modern looking ones and I just dont like it. It is like putting wagon wheel on a bmw just dont look right. I like to keep stuff around the same era you know. Plus I think older cars look stupid with modern stuff in it. Like painted interiors and neons.
