  • 1993 MX6 Center Console

Went to the JY yesterday and picked this up for $10. It's just a friction-fit, which works. It's in my Aspire, but it'll most likely work in Festys with the manual seat belts. For the auto belts, you will need to fab a bracket to relocate the seat belt receivers between the seats.

Picture 2 shows both storage sections open; you select the one you want to access with a sliding switch at the top front.

There are two screw holes on the sides at the bottom rear, but I don't notice them from the driver's seat. There are two more inside the bottom storage box; you can see one in picture 2. These screw to a bracket that bolts to the body. I got the bracket too, but probably won't use it. At the front there is a gap, since it wasn't designed for the Aspire. That could be dealt with in some way for cosmetic purposes.

The console is a little low in a Festiva/Aspire to use as an armrest. That's an Escort shift knob BTW.

Yeah, and it feels good in the hand too. Screws right on. That and the console are the only mods on the Aspire. I did tilt the console up a small amount at the rear, and now it works as an armrest.

I was wondering what that looks like - on another mazda forum they were saying it fits in the 323 and is taller -

Any chance the front half would work as well with mild modification?
And do you need custom brakets or something similar to how you mounted the Escort console in the 323?

Don't think the front half will work. The design is too different from what a Festy needs. Didn't use any brackets because it is such a tight fit.

Great, thanks Tom. Just what I needed, one more thing to look for when I'm yarding.
