  • "Shark fin" aerial from UK?

What do you all think of this antenna:

Would it give good reception when mounted near the center rear of a Festiva roof? Anyone know?

It's a bit different, kind of a squat variation of the "beesting" aerial which I remember first seeing on late eighties VWs Gti and Glis.

It can be painted to match.

Just to let you know, Europe uses different radio frequencies than north America maybe a problem may not.

      Thanks

Looks like the new syle antennas they use on higher end cars (thinking BMW, etc). I went with a roof mounted antenna that I put under my dash, it worked fine for most radio stations in my area and I didn't have to have anything on the outside of the car.

Get it, paint the car grey and call it "sharkstiva"! And remember to tell the it will "bite you"! This could be the theme for the new built up car!

^ won't make any difference my friend.

personally i don't like them, but hay, thats just me.
to get the best reception, the antenna would need to be in the center/rear of the car, fact

yup. all the avionics guys I used to work with would have a 30" stainless steel whip in the (left to right) center rear portion of their roofs for FM, and a 72" whip for CB/shortwave.

i think it would look better on an aspire, more rounded lines and all. hmmm....i think one would look nice on my aspire. i do kinda like the smooth look though, i have a hot rod style hidden antenna in my cougar that i really like, and i will probably go with another one like that.
