  • Tail light question Help!

My 1991 festiva has red/clear taillights, my other 91' has red/amber/clear tailights, why are they both 91's with different taillights? wha did the clear/red ones come off of???

  • #2
They are stock lights. The one that is clear was amber just has been sitting in super sunny spots and faded the amber that is why it is clear.

Never seen the tail lights UV fade!
      The front corners do.

      Pics please!
I suspect you may have a single european tail light.
I will post the link if I find a pic on this forum.

The GL I traded to bro in law had a tail light like that.
Instead of amber blinker in back its completly clear.
At a rest area in Cullman Al there is a guy with a twin GL that both rears are like that.

PU241, I believe he is talking about taillights like this. I had these on my car for a while until I found a set of Pride lights.

Gestiva's is definitely UV fade, but 91Blue's Len's seem pretty clean.

I did and experiment on a tail light in a Xenon weatherometer and saw no fading after 30 days of high intensity UV exposure.
Also note the front corner lights show a tendency for one to fade but not the other.
And I do not believe that on average one receives less UV than the other.
Me thinks there was a quality issue at the OEM that went undetected.

Mine originally came from a junkyard off of a silver GL, you can see yellow on the very ends if you look closely. I got that passenger side one from Paul the music man on the site here.
