  • How disable seatbelt conveyer?

I'm considering the purchase of a 91 Festiva. It has unusual seatbelts, the ones that close over you as soon as the door shuts. I'm thinking i wouldn't mind reaching over and detaching/attached the seatbelt manually, so i'm left in peace getting in and out of the car!

Is it possible to disable the seatbelt conveyer so it just stays in the retracted position? If so, how so, is it simple to do; like taking a fuse out?

Yep, there is a fuse in the fuse panel labeled "Belt" to the lower left side of the steering wheel. Just close the door, let the seatbelt retract then pull the fuse.

    And Welcome to the site!

      manual belts

I kept my manual belts from my 89 Festiva and just sawed off the ends of both tracks in my 93 to install the manual belt bolt. I now enjoy the hard headliner with the convenience of manual belts.

it's a 30 amp fuse...pull it. Or the control module under the drivers seat. The fuse is easier.

Thanks for all the perspectives and suggestions!

I'll just look for the fuse labelled "belt" and pull it. Rock on!
