  • Defrost switch mod

this mod will let you get the most out of that old defrost switch you have.

take 2 pieces of wire, attach one to your radio's HOT and one to your radio's ACC and run them to the defrost switch area. next get a 4 wire plug or cut your car's defrost plug off (i had a spare 4 wire plug) there are 4 prongs on the switch, two of them power a little light inside the switch and the other two are the defrost circuit. on my orange switch, the top two prongs CLOSEST to the little light (can be seen from the back of the switch) are the prongs we are going to use today. hook the HOT from your radio to one prong and the ACC to the other prong, and flip that switch. instant tuneage!

my radio shuts off when the key is turned off, since it is wired correctly.. so now i dont need a key to listen to the radio, but maybe im the only one who suffers this trama. and also you have to shut the door to turn the buzzer off if your using the key, if you dont want to unhook the buzzer like me.

So now you can forget to turn your radio off and kill your battery. If I bought a car and somebody had done this, it would be on my list of stuff to fix.

And the buzzer is uber easy to unhook BTW.

Kind of understand but all you have to do is leave it in the acc position and you can listen to the radio no problem....then you will always have the radio off when you pull your key out.

the key has multiple positions...the first one is the acc position so you can listen to the radio and stuff. I know the key will not come out unless it is off....that is why I said you will not forget to turn the radio off because turning the key all the way off will do that for you.

i did the same thing with my car... only i used a switch in the glove box... it comes in handy if you want to lissen to the radio and you need your key for somthing else... like if you have a good song playing when you get to your house but you need the key to open the door.... just flick the switch and you still can lissen to the radio

(why i installed it...) you want to lissen to the radio but your friends mess with your car if you leave the keys in it....
