  • speedo issue

    when i got my festy the speedometer didnt work, so i installed a new speedo cable today since the original cable broke, i noticed the speedo needle was down past the 0 but figured it was b/c the cable was broken, while driving the car the speedometer was kinda "jumpy" as it was moving up, after a few minutes of driving the speedometer stoppped working and instead of returning to 0 it went all the way down past the 0!!! is it broken??? i have no clue! but i believe i can here the speedo cable still "clicking" behind the speedo cluster, what do u guys think has happened??

      Sounds like the cable is not pushed all the way into the back of the cluster like Geneva said. Its hard to get it to line up sometimes since its a square peg going into a square hole. Helps a lot if you have an assistant to rotate the other end of the cable under the hood while you apply pressure to the cable going into the back of the cluster until the drive peg lines up and it slides into place. Also, if the speedo is sitting below zero when the car is stopped thats an pretty quick fix just carefully take off the clear plastic front while you have the cluster out of the car by releasing about 6 or 8 black plastic tabs that hold the clear face and the white base together. You can turn the speedo all the way clockwise till it stops, then push it just a tiny bit more to adjust it up some. If you get it sitting higher than zero then just adjust it down till its right where you want it
