  • CAD Projectors

Im thinking about dusting off my old CAD skills and create a cad drawing of a set of HID projector light housings and hopefully get a final vacuum formed version for my 93 festy. If anyone would like to share some information go nuts. Need all the information i can get.

Should be cool, trying myself to get the stuff together to do it; just missing a good Shop-Vac and a set of projectors to do it the old fashioned way....
The left lane? Are you crazy!!! I never drive in the left lane...It's full of freaks driving the wrong way and charging right at you!!!

i dont dont think the polycarbonate (?) used in vacuum for is thick enough, i think it would be prone to hazing as well, i think the best bet would be to make a slicone mold and make a good 1/8 resin lens, i bought the stuff to make the silicone mold, but i dont have a vacuum chamber to pull the air out of the mold, so it was a waste of 100 buxs

I want to put HIDs in, keep me in the loop
Aspires and Sways all around, Miata B6 installed, KYB G2Rs just installed in front. Wish for coil overs someday.

GL guys, it's either shelling out for the lenses or changing your whole front end to accept a housing that has what you need already. No one really makes square headlights anymore, but on trucks. My 2006 ranger was a super easy one to retrofit but it's much larger than a festiva light.

i emaiuled sickhids.com last year i think they quoted 100 buxs for lenses and 600 for a completed set with hi lo, and angel eyes. maybe we can get enough people for a group buy?

I've retrofitted HIDs myself onto my Grand Marquis.

The easiest way would be to cut the fluted lens off and replace it with plexiglass and a protective headlight sticker. The thick, clear sticker keeps it from getting chipped, foggy and damaged.

For the projector, there are bolt in H4 projectors that just came out last year. They're bi-xenons so they have Hi and Low beams.

$600 is high for a good projector retrofit. Do it yourself with top notch parts and looks for half that. A great start would be to check out hidplanet.com... tons of great info.

Yeah i have done a lot of research on retrofitting and i know i can do it but i thought hey if im going to get lenses made i might as well make a whole new housing. Im currently in the process of moving out for the first time to a whole new area quite some distance away from home so most car activities have stopped till i can get a new job and also uni goes back onto holidays.

There are some china projector sets on ebay that go right into a h4/9004/9007 hole whatever you are running thru the front and have their own harness. Out the door you can probably cut costs down in half and output isn't as great as lexus or mercedes oem but its not half as good so its a viable option too.

A lot of it is kinda tacky but when you make an order you specify 4300k not 6000k rice blue. the prices have also come down a good $50 since i was checking them out 6 months ago

These are not DOT, this may not affect some but others could get a nice tow or inspection.

Hella makes DOT housings, not cheap though!
