  • Honda Civic Seats

The wrecker has a couple of mid nineties, Honda Civic`s in the yard. They *look* like they would work, at a glance..........

Wondering if anybody has swaped in civic seats, and how the fitting went.

I bought a whole civic interior for 50 bucks 2 years ago and well...they look great mocked up in there but if you want them to work right you are going to have to mig some stuff. You might be able to take the seat off the honda bracket and drill new holes to make it fit the festy hardware but id rather keep the honda stuff attached so the slide and recline works better. If you remove a festy seat and turn it upside down and compare, youll see on the honda seat the problem is the "ears" on the rear hit where the ebrake/console area is so you need to cut and weld on a new piece of iron to make it line up in the festy frame hole. The cool thing is if you make honda hybrid brackets work you can upgrade to nicer honda seats later and they would go right on i would assume.

Would it be possible to use the Festy seat frame and seatback frame, and just install the Honda upholstery over them?

The honda seats are bigger, enough for me to not want to screw up the material trying. Plus every aspire and festiva I've come in contact with has a bent seat, "guido seat" as everyone not from California calls it so i hear.

almost a direct fit too. No welding...just a little massaging of the rail and a piece of bar stock for the other side.

I have a mig and fabricating them to fit would not be difficult if it's just the one *ear* mod.
                Thanks.

I'm guessing you'll have to fab up AT LEAST 2 mounts per seat.

Haven't done it myself. Just fair warning. I dont own a welder, which is why i dont have a turbo manifold for any of my engines (sigh). Just saying it's close as it is, you can probably bend the heck out of the honda bracket to get it to line up and zap it to get the strength back. Or you could get some discarded metal pieces and do it right, again not needing to start from scratch as it's close by eyeballing.
