  • Moving the seat rails...

I just sat in a festiva today for the first time in years. I am 6'5" now, and it was a tad uncomfortable with the seat all the way back. How difficult would it be to move the rails the seat slides on back about 5" or so? Could I just drill them out and drop bolts through, or more complex? I didn't have much of a chance to look at them today, but after tomorrow I'll have all the time in the world.

If you are going through the trouble you might as well do a complete seat swap. Also change your signature now that you are one of us!

More complex. There are two roller bearings held in a plastic cage inside each seat rail. The feet or pads have one 1/4" rivet and two welds on either side to hold them in place. When I mounted my Tiburon seats, I milled off the rivets, cut the welds and then ground them smooth. To do what you want, would require some flat stock to be welded on the front mounts and the long mounts turned backwards on the 93 rear seat stud bracket.

Alright, I suppose I'll run over to the LKQ u-wrench it next week and buy the 2 best aspire seats they have. Hopefully they will sit better, plus then I can sell the festy seats back to the guy I'm buying the car from for his other festy with crappier seats.
