I gotta hand it to you for improvisation! As long as it all works and doesn't shake loose everything is there. Good for you. You got yourself an "A". I teach high school shop and 'brain-dead' is a term I often use to describe the new generation; there isn't a shred of intuition, inventiveness or mechanical ability to be found in much of this current crop of future car owners.
Way way back I had an exquisite V12 Jaguar speedo (240 k top end) adapted into an Austin Mini dashboard. It had an odometer, was correctly calibrated, had a soft green glow and really stood out next to the stock BMC water and oil gauges. Also adapted a rear facing quartz driving light into the transmission reverse system (along with a separate switch tucked out of sight) so that tail-gaters could be 'zapped' at will. Financially cheap undertaking but a considerable amount of time and effort to accomplish.

Heck, I've seen worst looking stuff come from the factory.
I gotta ask..do the temp gauge and speedometer needles get into sword fights?
It looks like the speedo needle would hit the temp gauge after the car warms up and you're running below 15mph. Unless yours runs as cold as mine does LOLLast edited by Zanzer; 05-28-2011, 08:12 PM.

Hmmm. I wonder if the cluster housings could be made into blanks so people could make there own cluster. it would be a good way to make your gauge setup and speedo the way you want. Digital would be pretty sweet!Last edited by 91_festy_Gl; 05-28-2011, 08:16 PM.89L build thread http://www.fordfestiva.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=36422

Id use the miata tach and perhaps a miata speedo, with some aftermarket fuel and temp gauges? Just break the whole rear of cluster out and start with a new piece of plexiglass. I think its good to source things that are confirmed to work tho.1993 GL 5 speed
It's a MazdaFordnKia thing, and you will understand!
